Welcome to Support Network 

Support Network is the personal support charity for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). We provide information, advice, finance, emotional and/or practical assistance to people in need, who are or were, members of the IMechE, or who are a partner, child or an adult dependant of a member or former member of the IMechE. We therefore help eligible people of all ages, wherever they are in the world. We want to help as many eligible people as we can, so we also welcome enquiries about potential applications. Money problems? NEW SERVICE FROM APRIL 2013

If you're having financial difficulties, the sooner you take action the better. Ignoring debts won't make them disappear. In order to offer a wider range of money and debt advice services, we have partnered with StepChange national debt charity to be provide access to debt solutions which include 100% self-access online tools, a telephone helpline, access to specialist advisers who can guide you, directly negotiate repayment plans on your behalf, and devise debt management plans with creditors. Information and advice

Do you need general advice? Our new free telephone helpline operated by Advice Express can assist with a whole range of day-to-day enquiries including issues related to employment, housing, consumer problems, family and relationship difficulties, pension and welfare benefits. You can call them on our dedicated number of 01275 376 029 and their service is available Mon-Fri 8am-8pm, and at weekends 9am-12noon.  All advisors are based in the UK.

Do you need to move in a new direction: help to find a job

If you’re an IMechE member, or a member of your family is, then we can provide face-to-face employment coaching. You can discover where, and how to acquire new skills; learn new job hunting techniques; develop a powerful CV; boost your confidence and self-esteem; and identify your key personal strengths. An individual diagnostic session tailored to your needs is provided at no charge. (Subsequent sessions may also be provided on a free basis depending on means).

Support Network provides free legal advice to the family members of Members and former members of the IMechE, (and to former members themselves), through our partnership with Law Express. Care advice for older people from our partner charity, Independent Age

We know that caring for someone, and considering and obtaining the support that they need, especially in respect of moving into residential care, can be a confusing and distressing experience. So we are pleased to offer a quality-assured advice and information service in partnership with Independent Age, a well-established charity working with and for older people, their families and carers. They are specialists in providing information and advice about care and support issues for older people living in their own homes, with their family, in residential care or temporarily in hospital.
